Matching and Discovery

HDate's App Store listing describes swipe matching: you swipe right to like or left to pass on people it suggests, and you match when the like is mutual. It says most suggested people are near you because of its location-based algorithm.

Kind's matching learns from your likes and passes. Over time, the people it shows you change as you use the app.

Privacy and Security

HDate's App Store listing says member information on its servers is secured and that no one on its team may disclose members' personal information to a third party. Its App Store privacy label lists precise location, email address, and photos or videos as data linked to you. Its terms say the company does not run criminal background checks or try to verify users' statements, and we found no description of photo verification.

On Kind, your HSV type is encrypted at the application layer and is never sold or used for ads. Every account passes a live-selfie photo verification before it appears in discovery, and you can choose to block your phone contacts.

Pricing

HDate is free to download. Its App Store listing and terms list VIP membership at $24.99 for 1 month, $54.99 for 3 months and $99.99 for 6 months (checked October 6, 2026). They do not say which features need VIP, so check in the app before you pay.

Kind is free while it is new, with every feature included — messaging, seeing who liked you, and the full matching experience.

Apps and Access

HDate is an iOS app, published by GoMatch Limited. Its website, herpesdating.org, describes the app and hosts its terms and privacy policy. The website also links to a Google Play listing, but that link returned “Not Found” when we checked on October 6, 2026, and we found no other Android listing.

Kind is a dating app for iOS and Android, made for people with HSV-1 and HSV-2.

The Verdict

HDate has been on the App Store since 2016. It covers HSV and other STDs, with swipe matching and paid VIP plans. It may fit if you use an iPhone and want a community that includes people with other conditions.

Kind may fit if you want an HSV-focused app on iOS or Android, where every account passes a live-selfie photo verification and every feature is free while Kind is new. Kind was built by a software engineer who lives with HSV. It is newer and has fewer members, so check who is near you in each app.
